The difference between Surfboard soft board and hard board

2023-06-19

Length 7-9 feet, width 19-20 inches, thickness 2-3 inches. It is made of wood wrapped with foam, also called teaching board and soft board (other boards are hard boards). This board is very wide, thick, and has great buoyancy, allowing beginners to achieve the maximum stability in the same size board in the water, making it easy to catch waves and not easily hit themselves.

Long plate

The length is 8-10 feet and 6 feet, generally speaking, it is a single fin. The length of the long board provides great stability and displacement (buoyancy). Compared to the short board, the long board is much easier to paddle and is very suitable for beginners to practice catching waves

The difference between Surfboard soft board and hard board

The soft board has a layer of IXPE or EVA added, which is softer and provides better protection for surfers, making it less prone to injury and suitable for beginners. But the production process of soft boards is less than that of hard boards, and the price is slightly cheaper.

1. Weight. EPS/Epoxy Surfboard is generally lighter than PU/PE boards. When you need to carry boards for a long distance, you will feel the difference.

2. Buoyancy. EPS/Epoxy Surfboard has better buoyancy due to its lighter weight and different inner core materials. It means that you can make smaller and more flexible Surfboard with better buoyancy, which can help you paddle and get up earlier when chasing small and weak waves.

3. Service life. EPS/Epoxy Surfboard is very tough, wear-resistant and rigid. However, traditional PU/PE boards are prone to cracking and corrosion, so EPS/Epoxy Surfboard has a longer service life.
